Friendly cat shows up at man's sawmill and refuses to leave, bringing the macho man gifts of mice and doing everything she can to get adopted: 'She knows she found a good home'

When cats use the cat distribution system, sometimes, they go for difficult targets. Sometimes, cats will adopt people who "hate cats" and work hard to change their minds. Other times, cats adopt people who never wanted a cat, never planned on getting one, even if they like cats. And sometimes, cats will adopt someone who already has cats, and so, it is up to them to not only warm up to the human but to the cats as well. Of course, it all works out in the end, and if you were chosen by a cat, then the cat will stay - they will make sure of it. 

But it takes a while for some people to accept that they have been chosen, which… leads us to stories like these. Another case of the CDS at work - a cat showing up at a random person's sawmill and simply refusing to leave. Now, it seems that the man does not realize his fate is sealed yet, but it is, and sooner or later, he will find out about it.

    I think she came with a customer, either hiding under the truck, or he dumped her. Either way she's skinny, has scratches on her, and she's missing both bottom fangs (which makes her tongue stick out most of the time). She has already left me mice, and she's getting two meals a day. I already treated with Frontline and am going to get her vetted soon.

    Last-Place-Trophy OP She would have had to make it pretty far to show up in Minnesota. I took a long look at the photos, and they're definitely different cats. Millie has a brown triangle on her nose, and more body markings.

    Last-Place-Trophy OP I have a girl cat at home that tolerates (at best) boy cats and despises girl cats. Not sure if I'll leave her at the mill or rehome her. I'm not a fan of outdoor cats because of the abysmal survival rate.

  • Oh, innocent man that you… You don't know it yet, but you have already been adopted. Sure, your cat may not be friendly with this one, but it's only a matter of time. Before you even start looking for people to possibly adopt this little one, your cat will stake its claim, and you will have a bonded pair on your hands.

    Vexonar Look at slow introductions and start scent transfer as quickly as possibly. A shirt you've worn for a few hours and rub it over Millie to take home. Is your current cat not fixed? That can help, too.

    Last-Place-Trophy OP She's spayed; she was a trapped feral from Humane Society. She's very opinionated and expresses herself loudly and sharply. That's her in the bed and the noises she's making because Artie got too close are quite unhappy.

  • Look, the fact that they are in the same room together without attacking one another is already a sign that things will be fine. We know what cats are like when they want to fight. These two are just a little wary of one another, and not for long.
